Milton C. Laffin, 91, Wausau, died Tuesday May 3, 2016 at Wausau Manor Nursing Home.
He was born June 13, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Oscar and Martha (Luedtke) Laffin. On October 8, 1949, he married Rosemarie Palesch at the former St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. They were married for 66 years. She survives.
Milton was a veteran of the US Navy serving his country in the South Pacific during World War II. After his proud service to our Country, he moved to the Wausau area. He was an active member and Past Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post No. 388, Wausau, volunteering for several projects including, the Honor Guard, placing flags on Veterans graves on Memorial Day, cleaning local roadsides, the annual Poppy Sale and working the beer stand during the Marathon County Fair. He served as secretary/treasurer of the Last Mans Club for 12 years and was a member of the American Legion Montgomery-Plant-Dudley Post No. 10, Wausau.
Prior to his retirement, Milton was employed for 36 years at the former James River Corporation, Wausau. He was a member of Local Union 224 and was the Recording Secretary for 30 years. He was also on the negotiating committee during that time. Milton was involved with the Tower Credit Union serving on the Board of Directors for 30 years and as their Chairman of the Board for 12 years. Milton was also Treasurer of the Township of Wausau for four years. Through the years, Milton was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church, serving as an Usher, Lector and Lay Distributor. After retiring, the Laffin's took cross country ski lessons and spent many hours of enjoyment in the sport. For many years, they walked together three miles a daya
