Michael G. Sheehan

Michael G. Sheehan 56, R8663 Duncan Road, Hatley, died Wednesday August 13, 2003 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. He was born July 5, 1947 in Colgate, son of Rose (Beck) Sheehan, Colgate and the late Lester John Sheehan. On June 7, 1969 he married Carol McLaughlin at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Allenton, Wisc. She survives. Michael was involved in the field of Education for 36 years and it was his philosophy that learning was a lifelong process and shared his knowledge with many. He started his administration career at Washington High School in Germantown and in 1979, he accepted the position of Assistant Principal at D.C. Everest Junior High, Schofield, remaining in that position until the time of his death. He was an active member of St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley, having served the parish in several capacities, including, lector, member and past president of both the Parish and Finance Councils. Family time was important to Mike and he loved to share his appreciation and wonder of the outdoors with his family, especially his grandsons. Hunting and fishing with family and friends were favorite pastimes for Mike, as well as making wood and playing cards with his buddies. Survivors include his wife, Carol Sheehan, Hatley, his mother, Rose Sheehan, Colgate, a daughter, Kelly (Scott) Halvorsen, and their children, Jacob and Luke, Wausau; a son, Patrick Sheehan, town of Norrie, a brother, Robert (Laticia) Sheehan, Chanhassen, Minn., a sister-in-law, Dianne Sheehan, Hartford and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sheehan. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 7:30 p.m. Saturday August 16, 2003 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Rev. Thomas Abraham will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name may be directed to St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley.
