Michael V. Schumacher

Michael "Mike" V. Schumacher, 53, Wausau, formerly of Marathon, died Sunday, July 27, 2014. He was born January 5, 1961 in Wausau, the son of Marilyn (Buchberger) Schumacher of Marathon and the late Virgil Schumacher. Mike worked for United Express Airlines in Mosinee, then managed the First Discount Travel Agency in Wausau for many years. He bought out that agency and proudly owned and operated Mike's Travel Agency for the past couple of years. Mike loved to write music and played with the Polish Connection and many other bands for the past 30 years. Among his favorite pastimes, he enjoyed fishing and golfing. Survivors include, his mother, Marilyn; two brothers, Robert (Traci) Schumacher, Marathon and Richard (Sherrie) Schumacher, Mosinee; five nieces and nephews, Ami, Wesley, Jennifer, Thomas and Brianna; one great niece, Alicia; and many other relatives and friends. Besides his father, Virgil, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Ann. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Mike's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
