Michael William John Schmitz

Michael William John Schmitz, 23, 1241 N. Eighth Avenue, Wausau, was received into heaven by his Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, July 12, 2006, in Wausau. He was born October 5, 1982 in Wausau, son of Dennis and Mary (Lynch) Schmitz, Wausau. Michael was a 2001 graduate of Wausau West High School and from the time he was in high school and beyond, he had been employed at M & I Bank as a Proof Operator and held a variety of other positions in the community. He was a member of Calvary Chapel of Wausau. Among his favorite things to do were play guitar, mandolin and harmonica, as well as other instruments. Sports were a passion of Michael's, whether watching or playing, he especially enjoyed golf and basketball. He was an excellent cook. He dreamed of building guitars and going to culinary school. Survivors include his parents, Dennis and Mary Schmitz, Wausau, a brother, Jacob Schmitz, Boston, Mass., a sister, Rebekah (Andy) Chartier, Rothschild, a step-niece and a step-nephew, Stephanie and Andrew and a niece or nephew on the way. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Virginia Schmitz and Carol Lynch, both of Wausau, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Lloyd Schmitz and James Lynch, and a cousin, Jeffrey Schmitz. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at Bethany Baptist Church, 6601 Alderson Street, Weston. Pastor Allen Manser will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established for Teen Challenge of Wisconsin, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation center.
