Michael D. Nowak

July 8, 1924 — June 27, 2015

Michael D. Nowak, 90, town of Cassel, went home to God on Saturday, June 27, 2015. He was born July 8, 1924 in Cassel, son of the late Michael Sr. and Mary (Semski) Nowak. For 52 years, Mike was an auctioneer, which would have surprised most that met him as he was a man of few words. That being said, he never passed an opportunity to share a good joke. When he did, you got to see his smile that would always bring a twinkle to his eyes and make everyone feel welcome. In his younger days, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers and his sister, Mary. He also enjoyed the time honored family tradition of sheepshead, clubs trump of course. He never passed up an invite to play, or for that matter an opportunity to pick the blinds! He was tough to beat when he was on a roll. Mike was a faithful, life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He an Eline, the love of his life, rarely missed a Sunday service. It is where they will rest together in eternal life. Mike and Eline were a testament to true love and were inseparable during their life together. They were joined again in Heaven on Eline's birthday. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. The Very Rev. Allan L. Slowiak will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Besides his parents and wife, Mike was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Joseph and Edwin and his sisters, Clara Feltz, Della Michlig and Mary Brzezinski. Survivors include, his step-son, Thomas Bychinski, Wausau; grandchildren, Kendra (Steve) Osness, Merrill, Bradley (Stephanie) Bychinski, Lakeview, Minn. and Nathan (fiancAC. Kristi) Bychinski, Wausau; five great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends and a special furry friend "Sammy". The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau Manor and Hospice House. We would also like to thank the staff and patrons at Korner Kitchen for providing Mike with friendship while he had lunch. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
