Michael V. Mathwich
55, 7421 Mitchell Lane., Marathon, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005.
He was born October 9, 1949 in Wausau, son of Vernon and Mae (Voigt) Mathwich, Marathon. On August 10, 1974 he married ArDonna Sessions at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hamburg.
Michael was employed as a county patrolman for the Marathon County Highway Department for over 19 years. He loved spending time with his four boys and was very proud of them all. He was not only their father but their friend as well. Michael enjoyed all types of hunting, especially bow hunting and gun hunting but always found time to do a little camping. Michael loved being a grandpa, always taking time to create special memories with his five grandchildren. He was also very proud to work with his extended family at the Highway Department.
Michael proudly served his country in the United States Army 82 Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
Survivors besides his wife ArDonna Mathwich, Marathon, include his parents, Vernon and Mae Mathwich, Marathon, his children, Dane Mathwich, Brad (Jill Larsen) Mathwich, Chad (Jamie) Mathwich, Shaun (Susan) Mathwich, all of Marathon, five grandchildren, Devin, Bryce, Hailey, Mikayla and Parker Mathwich, his siblings, Jaclyn (Scott Grund) Dehnel, Athens, Allyn (Pam) Mathwich, Athens, Patricia (Rev. Earl III) Vorpagel, Green Bay, mother and father-in-law, Robert (Ida) Sessions, Athens, three brothers-in-law, Corey (Christina) Sessions, Wausau, Andrew (Donna) Sessions, Sheboygan, Michael (Brenda) Sessions, Poniatowski and one sister-in-law, Rosie Sessions, Schofield. Michael is further survived by his many nieces and nephews, many of whom were like children to him.
Michael was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Robert Sessions Jr.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2005 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, County Road A, Marathon. Diaconal Minister Sharon Gall will officiate. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, town of Stettin. Friends may call on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Michael's name.
