Michael J. Linder

If we were to measure life as we measure golf performance, then Michael (Mike) J. Linder came in at 1 under par when he died in the early hours of July 3rd, 2013. Rare was a non-winter day when you didn't find Mike on the golf course, and no, that sound you heard was NOT firecrackers! The clubhouse always had some wise comment flying through the air when Mike was around; the biggest question would be was it coming from him or towards him. Mike carried a kid-like grin on his face no matter if on the green, in the curling barns, or sitting at the card table squeezing the last dime out of a deck of cards. That grin was shown in greatest style when Mike was getting into trouble with his grandkids Madelyn and Maxwell Burbach; somehow someone would always get into mischief and Grandpa NEVER started it. Mike's life afforded him countless blessings. A marriage of 49.83 years to Sue (Abrahamson) Linder and their son Richard Linder Burbach truly were a key to his happiness, and continued to be his closest support as he faced the end of his time. His daughter-in-law Melissa (Missy) Burbach was so often the one he could count on to roll-eyes with as Sue and Richard were trying to convince everyone what they next needed to buy. Mike's brother Tim and Tim's wife Andrea always brought a bright smile to his face and he cherished every visit. So now the plethora of golf clubs and supplies will be retired, the curling stones will be set to be thrown down the ice by others, and the cribbage pegs and dimes will move no more by his hands; but he'll be there in spirit - laughing as you slice, pull a bad hand, or sweep too much. Mike now gets to watch over all of us with his sister Judy and their parents Harold and Esther. Surely he will find his parents-in-law Ger and John as well and there will be plenty of stories to exchange all around. Mike wasn't one for a funeral. Instead a gathering to exchange stories, toss back a few, and share superb laughs will be on Monday, September 16, 2013 at Indianhead Golf Course in Mosinee. A luncheon will be served from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM and a round of golf will be played after, in his honor. We look forward to seeing friends and family attend.
