Michael "Mickey" K. Larson
57, 1038 E. Grand Ave., Rothschild, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at his home under the loving care of his wife Linda and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born February 17, 1947 in Sparta son of the late Kermit and Leola (Potter) Larson. On December 7, 1974 he married Linda Benjamin in Eau Claire. She survives.
Mickey began his career in music by playing piano on the Dick Clark road shows, backing 50's star such as Chuck Berry, Bobby Darren, The Everly Brothers and many more. During the 1960's Mickey toured the U.S. with the Tongue band opening for many of the stars of the era and headlining many of his own shows.
During the 1970's and 1980's Mickey formed the Mickey Larson Band were he quickly became the one of the most popular piano players in the Midwest Blues Circuit. Besides playing music Mickey also was instrumental in designing Harley Davidson motorcycles for such people as Glendale Harley, Jay Leno and David Crosby.
Survivors besides his wife Linda, Rothschild, include his sister, Pat Gilbertson, Fort Wayne, Ind., his niece, Shannon Gilbertson, Fort Wayne, Ind., sister-in-law, Sue Zuech, Eau Claire and fellow band members, David Stanton, Eau Claire, Mike Richson, Eau Claire and Tom Swearingen, Rhinelander. Mickey is further survived and never forgotten by many friends and fans.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
