Michael "Jaws" Raymond Perkins

Michael Raymond Perkins “Jaws”, 67 passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 26, 2026.

He was born March 29, 1959 in Ladysmith, son of the late Raymond and Jean (LaBelle) Perkins. On June 30, 1984, he married Gail Ellis at Schmidt’s Ballroom.

Mike enjoyed gun collecting, camping, kayaking and biking. He definitely had the gift for gab and loved checking up on his friends. He also enjoyed having coffee at the truck stop in Edgar and talking with his buddies. .

Survivors include his wife, Gail Perkins; son, Brandon (fiancé, Hailey Mathwich) Perkins and daughter, Ashley (Garret Leichtman) Perkins; brothers, Chris (Lori) Perkins and Nathan Perkins; nephew, Michael (Dana) Perkins; niece, Brittany (Eric) Braunreiter; mother-in-law, Audrey Rechner.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be 7:00 pm Thursday, July 2, 2026, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Rev. George Graham will officiate. Burial will be in Athens Village Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 3:00 pm until the time of service all at the Athens funeral home.
