Michael A. Gorski
91, 2060 Hwy. XX, Mosinee, died Wednesday November 30, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born September 5, 1914 in Wausau, son of the late Anton and Frances (Kowalchyk) Gorski. On June 29, 1946 he married Elizabeth Sulzer at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She survives.
After his marriage to Elizabeth and because of his knowledge in the lumber trade, the couple decided that a new home should be constructed for their family. With the help of his brothers-in-law, trees from their property were selected, harvested, dragged to the landing by teams of horses and a sawyer was hired to cut the appropriate lumber for the home. The end result was a new home built on land that was part of the original homestead--the home Elizabeth and Michael still shared.
Michael had been employed with the Yawkey Alexander Company and for 39 years was employed at Mortenson & Stone Lumber Company retiring in 1979. Among his favorite past times were gardening, listening to music especially polkas and Lawrence Welk tunes. He was a car enthusiast, partial to a '69 Mustang which was his pride and joy for many years. Michael will be fondly remembered as a great outdoor barbeque man that enjoyed entertaining family and friends with his grilled specialties.
Survivors besides his wife, Elizabeth, include four children, Randy (Judy) Gorski, Wausau, John (Susan) Gorski, Oshkosh, Steven Gorski, Mosinee, Mary (Dr. James) Marshall, Madison, three grandchildren, Matthew (Jeanne) Gorski, Weston, Brett (Tracy) Gorski, Oshkosh, Grant Gorski, Oshkosh, one great-grandson, Hayden John Gorski, one step-great-grandson, Malik and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, LeAnn Gorski, four brothers, Anton, Joe, Frank and John Gorski and three sisters, Rose LeBlanc, Mary Hildebrandt and Frances Lucas.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Monday December 5, 2005 at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Mark Parish or Comfort Care and Hospice services.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Wausau Manor and the Hospice staff for the care and compassion extended to Michael.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
