Michael J. Brice

Michael J. Brice of Wausau died unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, June 26, 2014. Mike was born January 23, 1951 to Enoch and Mary (Barry) Brice. Mike was raised in Wisconsin with his four siblings (Bobbi, Pat, Steve, and Lynn). Following his high school graduation from Independence High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for two years before serving in the United States Air Force. While stationed in Arizona, he trained to be a medical assistant and worked in an area hospital. Upon leaving the Air Force, Mike began a career in construction, specializing as a glazier. He moved to San Diego, California where he worked in commercial and residential construction. Mike returned to Wisconsin, settling in Wausau where he was working as a custodian for St. Anne's Church. Mike will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and genuine person. Throughout his life he held a strong sense of helping others whether that be through sharing his skills or his time. He had a strong sense of fairness and respect for others. If you spent much time with Mike, you knew he had a wry sense of humor and liked to rib those for whom he cared. Mike was an avid reader and had broad interests, from politics to the environment. He was happy to sit and argue politics. Another endearing quality of Mike's was his sheer stubbornness. While life dealt Mike ups and downs, he always remained resilient. It brings a sense of peace and a smile to know that in these last years of his life, he was happy and at peace with himself. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services for Mike will be held at St. Anne's Church Wednesday, July 2, 2014. Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. followed by Mass at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be private with the family in Pittsville on Thursday, July 3.
