Michael "Mike" "Bitka" Bittner, age 56, died unexpectedly Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1956 in Wausau, son of the late Adolph and Dorothy (Schreiber) Bittner.
Mike held several different positions at 3M during his 37 years employed there. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan and attended many Bears camps with his brother, Tom. He also loved hunting, fishing and took several fishing trips to Canada. Mike enjoyed the challenge of working daily crossword puzzles, reading, interpreting and reading the Bible. Above all he enjoyed time spent with his daughter, Amber and family at all their gatherings and also with his dog, Ditka.
Survivors include his daughter, Amber Bittner, Madison; five siblings, Bill Bittner, Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Judy (Jim) Thurs, Gerry (Chuck) Parsch, Jackie (George) Schoeder, all of Wausau and Tom (Kay) Bittner, Mosinee. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Sue Bittner.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Robert Thorn will preside. Friends may call Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the church.
