Merlyn C. Doerr
74, Merrill, died Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
He was born January 24, 1935 in Rib Falls, son of the late Elmer and Eleanore (Laak) Doerr. On November 1, 1958 he married Janice Kolberg in Wausau. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2003.
Merlyn served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a lead electrician at the former James River Corp. and following retirement he worked as a self-employed electrician. Some of his interests included fishing, boating and golfing. He also enjoyed motorcycling, fast cars, classic cars, yardwork and his dog, Benji. Merlyn was a member of the German Club in Wausau, the Golf League at the American Legion and the American Legion Montgomery Plant Post No. 10, Wausau.
Survivors include one son, Tim Doerr, Wausau; one sister, Betty Lange, Merrill; special friend and partner, Dottie Wiesman, Merrill; brother-in-law, Jerome Kolberg, Wausau, sister-in-law, Faye (Richard) Sturm, Franklin Tenn. and mother-in-law, Edna Kolberg, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a son, Jay and two sisters, Alice and Rosemary and two brothers, Floyd and James.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, December 18, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. The Rev. Gary Schultz will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call Thursday from 4 - 8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th Street, Wausau and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
