Merlene I. Gavitt
82, 2035 Grand Avenue, Schofield died Monday, February 26, 2007 at her home.
She was born June 13, 1924 in Schofield, daughter of the late Frank and Hertha (Kamke) Muelver. On November 14, 1942 she married Melvin Gavitt in Schofield. He preceded her in death on December 5, 1991.
Merlene was a homemaker. She enjoyed playing cards, conquering jig saw puzzles and crossword puzzles, tending to her house plants but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Merlene was also an active member at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church serving with the Ladies Aid.
Survivors include her son Rodney (Alicia) Gavitt, Tomahawk, her grandchildren, Brian Gavitt, Sherri (Pat) Gartmann, Rodney Gavitt Jr., Brenda Syring, Michelle (Barry) LeBlanc and Laurie (Kyle) Busko, six great grandchildren, one sister Mildred Corazalla, Weston along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son Ronald Gavitt, two sisters, Marjorie Glatzak, Marcelle King and two brothers Frank Muelver Jr. and Donald Muelver.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2007 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schofield. The Rev. Ryan Wolfe will officiate. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
