Merle J. Braun

Merle J. Braun 72, Athens, died Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Colonial House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Colby. Merle was born January 27, 1930 in Green Bay, son of Nila (Strebe) Braun, Athens and the late Matthias Braun. Merle was a electrical lab technician in Milwaukee retiring in January 1, 1989. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, trap shooting and shooting bow and arrow. Survivors besides his mother, Nila; include one sister, Beverly (Francis) Wilger, Eugene, OR; six nieces. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2002 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.
