Merceda L. Lenhard
73, 301 Duenow St., Athens, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004 in the Palliative Care Unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
She was born on November 7, 1930 in Athens daughter of the late Lorence and Elizabeth (Wanke) Daniels. On July 13, 1963 she married George Lenhard in Athens. He survives.
Prior to her marriage Merceda had been employed at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory. Merceda was co-chairperson of the St. Anthony Parish Council of Catholic Women and had been the president of the National Catholic Society of Foresters. She enjoyed card playing, cooking, baking and gardening but special to her was visiting the elderly.
Survivors besides her husband, George Lenhard, Athens include her children, Todd Lenhard, Green Bay, Kenneth (Lori) Lenhard, Eau Claire, Angela (Todd) Soczka, Greenfield, five grandchildren, Cassie, Brian & Elizabeth Lenhard, Hannah and Ethan Soczka, four brothers, Edward Daniels, Norbert (Jeanette) Daniels, John (Shirley) Daniels, all of Athens, Rev. Larry Daniels OCD, Holy Hill, six sisters, Ruth Pederson, Athens, Agnes Tobin, Maple Valley, Wash., Sister Irene Daniels SSSF, Milwaukee, Mary (Dan) Writz, Abbotsford, Patricia (Roland) Luellwitz, Colgate and Betty (Joe) Socha, Edgar.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Friday from 4-8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens and again on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish vigil service at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the Athens funeral home.
