Maynard G. Hollis
81, 619 N. Ninth Avenue, Wausau, died Saturday August 7, 2004 at his home, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born May 2, 1923 in Troy, South Dakota, son of the late John and Myrtle (Storlie) Malcolm. On June 10, 1944 he married Dorothy Kawski at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, Mill Creek. She survives.
As a veteran of World War II, Maynard proudly served his country with the 32nd Red Arrow Division. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Burns Post #388, Wausau.
For 35 years Maynard had been employed at the former American Can Corporation, Wausau. He was a charter member of the Church of St. Anne and a member of the former Holy Name Society. Among his favorite past times were photography, music, collecting coins and Department 56. He was an avid Packer fan and enjoyed collecting Packer memrobilia. Special to Maynard was the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Hollis, Wausau, children, Dianne (Jerry) Ress, Wausau;Geraldine Kloos, Wausau; Robert (Mary Beth) Hollis, Schofield; Timm (Lynda) Hollis, Wausau; Ken (Mary) Hollis, Schofield; 16 grandchildren, two sisters, Sevilla Benson, Washington and Pauline Schwartz, Oregon.
Besides his parents, Maynard was preceded in death by three brothers, John Malcolm, Willie Hollis and Father Raphael Hollis.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Weds. August 11, 2004 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. Rev. Steven Brice will preside. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park where military honors will be conducted by members of the VFW. Friends may call on Tuesday from 4 - 8 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Weds. from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Sixth Street funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Church of St. Anne or Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
