May K. Root, 82, Wausau, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Harbor House, Rib Mountain.
May was born March 14, 1921 in Lancer, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of the late Ole I. and Evva (Hektner) Krohn. She married Malcolm Root on April 5, 1952 in Duluth, Minnesota. He preceded her in death in 1977.
May was a high school teacher in Duluth, Minnesota and later retired from Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the League of Women Voters.
Survivors include one daughter, Marie (Rev. Gary) Harrison, Wausau; one son, Paul (Bheng) Root, Indianapolis, Indiana; one brother, Karl (Emily) Krohn, Memphis, Tennessee; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at Good News Baptist Church, Mosinee. Rev. Duane Jass will officiate. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Duluth, Minnesota.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pinnacle Ministries Pastors' Scholarship Fund.
