Mavis T. Stanley
87, Harmony House, Wausau, died Thursday, May 26, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1918 in Laona, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary (Tipton) Barnes. On September 5, 1935, she married Elmer Stanley in Michigan. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2000.
Mavis was a homemaker. Besides cooking, reading and watching the Fox News Channel, she was an avid Packer and NASCAR fan. Mavis along with her husband, enjoyed visiting with their friends at the Casino.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Madison, Pine River and Janice Raszeja, Milwaukee; one son, Wayne (Karen) Stanley, Rothschild; foster daughter, Bonnie; eight grandchildren, Nicole Madison, Amy (Michael) Friday, Deborah Raszeja, Scott (Robina) Raszeja, Kevin (Madi-Cruz) Raszeja, Jodi (Don) Stewart, Ryan Stanley and Kayla Stanley and 12 great grandchildren; one sister, Bernice Wiegan, Crandon; three brothers, Forest (Clarice) Barnes, Deerbrook, Clarence (Lois) Barnes, Conover and Jacky (Anne) Barnes, Milwaukee; many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Mark Raszeja; two sisters, Adele Mundt and Mary Czapiewski; two brothers, Russell and Wayne Barnes.
Funeral services will be 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Laona Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. Wednesday until the time of services at the Stewart Avenue funeral home.
