Mavis K. Schoenherr

Mavis K. Schoenherr, 84, Wausau, died Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau. She was born November 12, 1931 in the town of Hamburg, daughter of the late Walter and Mathilda (Voight) Krohn. On April 30, 1955 she married Walter Schoenherr in Pine City, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on July 20, 1972. Mavis was a homemaker who also over her lifetime worked at Weinbrenner, Mini Maids, Marathon Electric and Fox Sportswear, as well as being a caregiver for her grandchildren. Mavis enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching NASCAR and traveling, especially her trip to California on her 70th birthday. Above all, she cherished time spent with her grandchildren. Survivors include her children, Susan Hansen, Wausau, Gary (Barbara) Schoenherr, Wausau, and Bruce (Lori) Schoenherr, Mosinee; grandchildren, Becky (Andy) Jones, St. Louis, Missouri, Amy (Stan) Thrall, Wausau, Pamela Schoenherr, Eric Schoenherr, both of Wausau and Matthew Hansen, Madison; 2 great-grandchildren, Katie and Karah; sisters, Luann (Bill) Ruhbusch, Schofield, Lois (Mike) Fasse, Merrill, Geneva Weith, Marathon and Lorraine (Bill) Melanson, Wausau, brother, Donald (Lynn) Krohn, Wausau and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary, sisters, Ethel Buttke, Ardell Koenig, and Junice Braatz and brothers, Layton Krohn and Earlin Krohn. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until the time of services all at the Stewart Avenue funeral home. Burial will be in St. John Ev. Cemetery, town of Hamburg.
