Maurice A. Kryshak, 94, Wausau passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 14th 2025 while a resident at Primrose Retirement Community of Wausau.
He was born April 29, 1931 in the city of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, son of the late Frank and Clara (Shuda) Kryshak. On October 24, 1953 he married Marjorie T. Hunt at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Stevens Point. They enjoyed a loving 70-year marriage with all the joys that life brings.
A loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and great-great grandfather Maurice dedicated his life to supporting and raising his family and continued that love and support with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He attended elementary school in Stevens Point at St. Peter Grade School and H.S at P.J. Jacobs High School graduating in 1948.
He served in two branches of military service beginning with the Army National Guard after graduation followed by a 4 year enlistment in the Air Force in 1953 achieving the rank of Tech. Sergeant. He was able to continue his education after his military service under the G.I. Bill and graduate with a degree in accounting from UW Madison. He enjoyed a lengthy and successful career as a C.P.A. that he began by working for a Wausau Firm, then a national moving company and eventually starting his own accounting business specializing in small businesses and tax preparation. His experiences as an accountant inspired three of his children to pursue similar professions with two of them joining his company and eventually taking ownership and continuing to build the business at which he continued to work part-time well into his 80’s.
The enjoyment of playing softball and baseball, deer hunting with family and friends, spending time at the cottage up north with his beloved Marge and family, doing crossword puzzles, bowling with friends or winning at Bingo were some of his many pastimes. He was always a problem-solver often looking for simpler solutions to the many quandaries of just living life and continued to do so until his passing. He was a dedicated volunteer with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of his local parishes, a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus and often invited and encouraged his children to join him with fundraisers thus passing along the values of community service, caring and the nurturing and supporting others in need.
Survivors include his children: Jeannine (Dennis) Stencil, Wausau; David (Cheryl) Kryshak, Ringle; Mark (Jodi Engum) Kryshak, Amherst; Clare (Peter Karwowski) Kryshak, Homer, Alaska, and Peggy Kryshak, Wausau; seven grandchildren: Brian and Chris (Jeannine's family), Andy and Elizabeth (Dave's family), Ian and Kelby (Mark's family) and Sabina (Clare's family), eight great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild, and sisters-in-law, Judy Hunt (Texas) and Ruby Hunt (Oshkosh), step-siblings Eleanor Hoerter (Stevens Point) and Maurice Kryshak (Illinois).
