Matthias "Matt" Omelian 51, Athens died Monday, November 5, 2012 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was born June 24, 1961 in Wausau, son of Frank and Genevieve (Allar) Omelian, Athens. On May 17, 1986 he married Kathleen Becker at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Milan. She survives. Matthias began driving milk truck for Marlin Kraus and then went to drive for Thomas Giffin Trucking, Abbotsford. From 1991 to 2005 he worked for Weyauwega Milk Products Inc., following that he went to drive for Miltrim's Farms in Athens until his untimely death. Some of Matthias's hobbies included collecting antiques, chainsaws and tractors. Matthias was a member of the North Central Wisconsin Steam and Gas Engine Club of Edgar. He always put his family first whenever there was a time of need for anyone and his presence as "Santa" during the Holidays will be deeply missed. Survivors include his wife Kathleen Omelian, Athens, his two children, Brandon and Jessica Omelian, Athens, his parents, Frank and Genevieve Omelian, Athens, his mother-in-law, Evangeline Becker, Medford, one brother, Michael Omelian, Rothschild and one brother-in-law, Bernard (Belinda Fechhelm) Becker, Dorchester. Matthias is further survived by one niece, CiJi (John Becker) Becker, Medford, four nephews, Mitchel Becker, Dorchester, Johnathon (Amie) Becker, Athens and Nicholas and Noah Omelian, Rothschild, one great niece, Avah Becker, Athens and three loving god children, John Schuette, CiJi Becker and Bryce Venzke. Matthias was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Orville Becker. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. The Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. There will be a parish rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Friday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Matthias's name.
