Mathew Kampf

Mathew Kampf 100, 5508 Roger Drive, Wausau died Tuesday, September 25, 2001 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Mathew was born February 17, 1901 in Austria, son of the late Mathew and Eva (Tabor) Kampf. He married Mary Boehmer. She preceded him in death in 1981. Mathew moved to the Chicago area in 1912 and became a United States citizen September 25, 1931. As a Chicago resident, he learned the barber business, worked in a defense plant and was a streetcar operator. Mathew moved to the Town of Wausau in 1945 to learn farming and returned to Chicago in 1950. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed gardening. He will be sadly missed. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Shanes, Antioch, Illinois and Vicki (Richard) Mueller, Wausau. Many, many grandchildren, great-grandchilren and great-great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and his wife, Mary, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Ann Fox and two sons, Mathew and Tom Kampf. Private family services and burial will be Monday at St. Mary Cemetery and Mausoleum, Evergreen Park, Illinois. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue, Wausau, is in charge of the arrangements.
