Mary E. Weiss

Mary E. Weiss, 83, formerly of Stoughton, WI, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

She was born the second of three daughters on June 30, 1942, to the late Dr. Karl and Mrs. Margaret (Carr) Morris in Westfield, New Jersey. Active in choir throughout high school, Mary, nicknamed “Biz,” auditioned for and made the senior class vocal ensemble, “The Twelve,” prior to her graduation in 1960. She attended Wittenberg University briefly, where she sang in the Wittenberg Choir and joined the Gamma Phi Beta sorority chapter. In the 1960s, she modeled in New York City and also worked as a flight attendant for Trans World Airlines (TWA). Mary later attended Rutgers University and graduated with a B.A. in English.

In 1966, Mary married Lawrence C. Weiss in Westfield, New Jersey, and he preceded her in death in 2011. Over the years, Mary worked as a teacher in adult education, legal and executive secretary, and a pharmacist assistant prior to her retirement. She also continued her singing, including appearances with the Farmington Valley Chorale, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Simsbury United Methodist Church Choir, and Simsbury Light Opera Company when her family lived in Connecticut. In retirement, Mary enjoyed volunteering at the Stoughton Opera House and in support of local election operations. However, it was her daughters’ education that Mary believed most strongly in.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mary “Biz” was preceded in death by her oldest sister, Mrs. Emily “Emmy” McDaniel. Survivors include her youngest sister, Ms. Katherine “Kitty” Morris; her three daughters, Anne Weiss, Leigh (Andrew) Johnson, and Debra Weiss; four grandchildren, Xanis, Levi, Fynten, and Isabelle; four nieces, Katherine, Susan, Mary, and Constance; numerous cousins; and Mary was soon to be a great-grandmother.
