Mary P. Tomczik , 90, 1821 N. 4th Avenue, Wausau, died Sunday, April 3, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care & Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born September 26, 1914 in Wausau, daughter of the late John and Antoinette (Rafacz) Jurkowski. On July 3, 1937 she married Alvin D. Tomczik in Wausau . Mary says she met her husband at a "medicine show", a free comedy show held outdoor to sell medicines. She remembers going for a ride with him in a Model T Ford at the time. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1990. Mary was a homemaker. She was also employed at Marathon Rubber and Town Casuals. She enjoyed playing sheepshead and bingo and participated in all the activities at Marywood Convalescent Center. She was a member of National Catholic Society of Foresters and the Rosary Confraternity at St. Michael Catholic Church. Survivors include a daughter, Joni Gliniecki, Wausau; a son, James (Marie) Tomczik, Wausau; six grandchildren Brian (Jackie) Gliniecki, Wausau, Patricia (Dean) Marceille, Wausau, David (Paula) Tomczik, Weston, Scott Tomczik, Wausau, Michelle (Jesse) Angelle, Oshkosh, Laurie (Jack) Hehling, Merrill; fifteen great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; two sisters-in-law Leona Jurkowski, Wausau and Elsie Stopf, St. Paul, Minn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, parents, a daughter, Rosemary, a great grandson, Chase, a son-in-law, Ted Gliniecki, a brother Joe Jurkowski and a sister Rose Jurkowski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, April 7, 2005 at St. Michael Cathollic Church, Wausau. Rev. Joseph Rafacz will preside. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau and again on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
