Mary Brown Tietz

Mary Brown Tietz 81, 1404 Lili Lane, Rothschild, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born February 7, 1927 in Scotland, daughter of the late James and Agnes (McClaren) McCurley. On February 7, 1946 she married Ralph Tietz in Newark, New Jersey. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2002. Mary retired from National Tea in Wausau and also worked at Dales Super Value. She will be fondly remembered for always being a hard worker and people person by all who know her and will be sadly missed by her family especially her grandchildren. Some of her favorite pastimes included reading and gardening but spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren was the greatest joy she had. Mary will be deeply missed by her best friend Audrey LaPorte and Nancy Buedding, who she loved like a daughter. Survivors include her children, Kathy (John) Vercimak, Weston and Clifford (Diana) Tietz, Carmillo, California, six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, one sister, Elizabeth Dwyer, Weston and one brother James (Geri) McCurley, Providence, Rhode Island along with many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one granddaughter Christine Vercimak, one step granddaughter, Lori Grohman and one brother, William McCurley. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Crossroads Apostolic Bible Fellowship or St. Judes.
