Mary D. Thompson

Mary D. Thompson 86, Marshfield, formerly of Edgar, died Sunday, January 13, 2008 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. She was born August 15, 1921 in Wausau, daughter of the late Joseph Sr. and Barbara (Kult) Witeck. On June 29, 1940, she married Laurence P. Thompson at St. Mary Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2007. Mary was currently a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Stratford, a member of the Edgar Women's Club, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post #10187, Edgar and the American Legion Auxiliary Sawyer-Drumm Post #393, Edgar. Among her many interests, Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and always took the time to meet people and socialize whenever the opportunity arose. Survivors include, three children, Larry Jr. (Theresa) Thompson, Germantown, Ohio, Patricia (Jim) Johnson, Stratford and Richard (Julie) Thompson, Shellsburg, Iowa; six grandchildren, Pam (Don) Seeger, Colorado, Sue (Frank) Otruba, Iowa, Michelle Thompson, Appleton, Erica (Eric) Berkebile, Arizona, and Nick and Alex Thompson, Iowa; six great grandchildren, Jeff, Paul, Nicole, Nikki, Adam and Benjamin; one sister, Margaret Weisner, Wausau; and five sisters-in-law, Amanda Bicos, Florida, Ruth Brown, Florida, Esther Duranso, Wausau, Esther Thompson, Wausau and Vivian Thompson, Wausau; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Laurence, she was preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Messing; and three brothers, Joseph Jr., Frank and John Witeck. Funeral services will be 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, 2008 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar. Rev. Susan Eidahl will officiate.
