Mary Ann Starzinski

Mary Ann Starzinski, age 85, Marathon, died Monday, September 30, 2013 under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center, Weston. Mary was born February 20, 1928 in the town of Scott, Lincoln County, Wis. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Angeline (Omelian) Sczygelski. Mary married John Starzinski on July 2, 1949 at Saint Francis Catholic Church in Merrill. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1996. Before her marriage, she was employed in Wausau and Edgar. Mary and John farmed in the town of Cassel, Marathon County, Wis. for 35 years. Upon retirement, they moved to Marathon. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in the town Cassel. At church, she was both a member and officer for many years of the Parish Council of Catholic Women and the Rosary Society. Mary also volunteered for many other church functions. Mary enjoyed baking, cooking, reading and visiting with family and friends. While Mary and John were raising their three children, they opened their home and helped raise several of her siblings. Mary's greatest joy, was spending time with family and friends. Mary is survived by two sons and one daughter, Raymond (Pamela) Starzinski, of Stevens Point, Wis. Patricia Bern, of Fort Atkinson, Wis. and Michael (Mary) Starzinski, of Marathon, Wis.; five grandchildren, Christopher Bern, Rachel Starzinski, Steven Starzinski, Thomas Starzinski and Anna Starzinski; and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Bern. She is also survived by, one sister, Elizabeth (Eugene) Teresinski, of Athens, Wis; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Lemmer and Emery Kufahl, of Merrill, Wis.; and one sister-in-law, Carol Sczygelski, of Merrill, Wis. Mary is also survived by her best friend, Leona Mullen and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; two brothers, Joseph and Walter Sczygelski; and three sisters, Virginia Wiesneski, Angeline Lemmer and Geraldine Kufahl. Mary was also preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Ignatz and Mary (Sekorski) Starzinski; four sisters-in-law, Margaret Erdman, Clara Drewek, Mary Teresinski and Lucille Kruesel; and four brothers-in-law, Stanley, Alex and Peter Starzinski and Paul Wiesneski. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. Rev. Jerome Patric will preside. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. The family wishes to thank all who were involved with Mary's care. Thank you to Rev. Jerome Patric, the staffs at Ministry Saint Clare's Hospital, Marshfield Clinic and Ministry Home Care Hospice and especially the staff at Kennedy Park Medical and Rehabilitation Center for all their support and prayers.
