Mary A. Seeger, 90, Edgar, passed away peacefully in the Lord's arms on May 13, 2014 at Aspirus Hospice House.
Mary was born June 10, 1923, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Literski) Welbes Sr. On May 29, 1948, she married the love of her life, Herbert Seeger Sr., at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. He preceded her in death, April 2, 2010.
Prior to their marriage, she worked in New Berlin, Wisconsin, also at the Pied Piper Shoe Company and Silbernagels, both of Wausau. Mary and Herbert farmed in the town of Frankfort, where they raised their four children and were the proud recipients of the Century Farm Award in 2007.
Mary loved to plant flowers, play cards, travel, bake pies and listen to polka music. She was also a member of the Parish Council of Catholic Women at St. Anthony Catholic Church. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to spend time with her family.
Mary will be missed by her four children, two daughters, Barbara (James) Spatz, Wausau and Alice (Norbert) Schuster, Fall Creek, two sons, James (Jayne) Seeger and Herbert Jr. (Lisa) Seeger, all of Wausau, nine grandchildren, Jeffrey (Cara) Spatz, Weston, Sarah(fiancAC., Adam Weller)Spatz, Wausau, Jodi (Ryan) DeBroux, Athens, Justin Seeger, Wausau, Jesse (Alissa) Schuster, Eau Claire, Cody Schuster, East Odessa, Texas, Holly (Sebastian) Waite, Greenville, South Carolina, Alex Seeger and Connor Maria Seeger, all of Wausau; three great grandchildren, Emma, Evan and Eli DeBroux, all of Athens. She is also survived by one sister, Genevieve Jenkins, Green Bay. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Joseph Jr. Welbes and one sister, Margaret.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 17, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Paul Hoffman and Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
