Mary A. Nelson

Mary A. Nelson, 81, Wausau died Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. She was born January 4, 1933 in Antigo, daughter of the late Leslie and Alice (Wolf) Frink. On June 1, 1971 she married Wilbert "Bill" Nelson in Waukegan, Illinois. He preceded her in death in 1982. For many years Mary was a CNA at Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Wausau. She had a true passion for caring for people and loved going to work and tending to those in need. Mary also had a passion for cooking. She was a cook for many local restaurants in Wausau and also for the Farmers Home in Antigo. Some of Mary's favorite pastimes included knitting, sewing for her children and grandchildren and always being there for her family, especially her grandchildren whom she loved spending time with. Mary was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Survivors include her children, Denny (Kelly) Kramer, Venezuela, Vicki (Duke) Denney, Tomahawk, Terri (Steve) Babcock, Wausau, Janet Malliett, Winston Salem, North Carolina, Beth (Craig) Dickinson, Wausau, Joel (Julie) Kramer, Wausau and Jane (Robert) Rasmussen, Wausau, one brother, Lynn (Betty) Frink, Nevada, one sister, Gloria (Wilbur) Petroskey, Rhinelander, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Bill Nelson, her daughter, Mary Kay, two brothers, Darrell and Gene, her sister, Cindy and three grandchildren and one great granddaughter. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, Wausau. The Rev. Gerald Pehler OFM Cap. will preside.
