Mary Lackey

Mary Elizabeth Lackey, 70, of Wausau WI, passed away December 6th, 2014. "Mary Beth", daughter of Mary Winifred Wagner and Loren Hoss, died peacefully in her home among family after a battle with esophageal cancer. She is survived by her mother; two daughters, Christa Deane and Jennifer Lackey; and grandson Clyde. Mary is also survived by four siblings: Lana Markey, Bruce Hoss, Debbie Reinicke and Tommy Hoss; sister-n-law, Cinda Zant; 13 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; and dog Charlie. Mary graduated from Columbus Catholic High School in Marshfield, WI in 1962 after growing up in Owen, WI. She was instrumental in planning the 40th, 45th and 50th reunions. As a life long music lover, she particularly enjoyed creating the top 40-music compellation CDs from her high school era for her former classmates and photo displays. In October 1968 she married Charles Lackey in East Moline, IL. They were happily married for 42 years until the time of his death in 2010. Mary, also known as Beth, was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend and pet owner. She was a full time homemaker and well known for her decorating, meticulous sewing and craftsmanship for creating needlepoint samplers, quilting, knitting and crocheting Afghans and garments. She also had a passion for the outdoors, bird watching, gardening and the change of seasons. She particularly enjoyed autumn and celebrating the Green Bay Packers throughout the football season. Finally, she was always up for playing a competitive card game of Hearts. Mary will be greatly missed for her open-minded sense of humor, fun-loving nature, great sense of compassion, loyalty and integrity. Services will be held at Peterson/ Kraemer, 1302 6th St., Wausau, 54403 (East Location), Saturday December 13th with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and Memorial at 1:45 p.m., refreshments will be served after.
