Mary Ann was born on December 13, 1928 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Bernard J. Friedl and Irene (McCormick) Friedl. She graduated from Wausau Senior High School in 1946 and was a lifelong resident of the community. She married Norman A. Krueger a 1945 Wausau Senior High School graduate. Together they raised 3 children. Her children remember her as a strong woman who was focused on her goals, loved life and embraced it with zest. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their goals. Mary Ann was educated as a bookkeeper and early in her adult life she worked in the early 1950's at Greenheck as one of their first office employees. Taking time out to raise 3 children she re-entered the workforce selling Avon products, worked as part-time staff in the City of Wausau Treasurers office, and then Full-time staff for a number of years in the Marathon County Health Department. She finished her working career and retired from the Marathon County Zoning Department in 1992.
Mary Ann was an accomplished bowler and pursued that passion for many years, playing in many local, regional and national tournaments with a dedicated group of ladies, and to this day, they remain the best of friends. One of her special joys was to bowl a 607 series as a signature event in her bowling career. She was a curious individual who loved to read and travel and she had traveled extensively in the United States and made a dream trip to Ireland the country of her heritage. She was passionate about her Irish heritage and was instrumental in ensuring that her McCormick relatives held their annual family reunion, helping start that tradition in 1967. Mary Ann was a charter member of St Anne's and was an active and dedicated member of the parish her entire adult life. She was also an officer and engaged member with the VFW Ladies Auxiliary and she volunteered for many years at the Grand Theater as an usher.
