Mary E. Hornick, 93, Wausau passed away Monday, July 18, 2016 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born August 2, 1922 in Bessemer, Mich., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Babicky) Probelski.
Mary worked as a receptionist for Wausau Medical Center for 15 years and also for several years as a secretary for the City of Wausau. She loved listening to music, was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and scrabble. Mary was also an avid Brewers Fan, loved a daily drink and most especially adored her special grandson, Shawn and the weekly Friday visits.
Survivors include her son, Gerald (Sandy) Hornick, Wausau; daughter, Marcia (Rodney) Stanczak, Wausau; special grandson, Shawn Hornick, grandchildren, Brett (Diane) Stanczak, Paula (Larry) Hyatt and Jerry (Courtney) Hornick Jr., and their son; great grandchildren, Madison and Hadlei Stanczak and Cullen Hyatt; step great-grandchildren, Desire (Clay), Cooper and Mason; two sisters, Margaret (Edgar) Bielecki, and Frances (Dave) Rampallei, all of Bessemer, Mich., many nieces and nephews and special friend, Sandy Popko.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward (Kathryn) Probelski, Philip (Dorothy) Probelski, Lawrence (Bertha) Probelski, Clarence (Lucille) Probelski and Robert Probelski and one sister and brother-in-law, Grace (John) Tarro.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Dan Thelen will preside. Inurnment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Aspirus Hospice House. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 3400 Stewart Avenue is in charge of arrangements. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to all the "Angels" from the Hospice House for their outstanding care and devotion, it was like Mary was in Heaven during her stay with them. They would also like to give special thanks to friend/Dr. Umland for his faithful care and support to Mary during her time of need.
