Mary Jane Frieders, 79, Rib Mountain, died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

As a young woman, Mary Jane traveled with a friend to California where she lived for almost a year. The highlight of her California stay was attending an Elvis Presley concert. After returning from California she began writing letters to a young service man, Jim, who became her future husband of 56 years. Mary Jane was a homemaker who raised four boys and when they were grown she started her career at Marathon Cheese, retiring in 1998. She enjoyed family time at the cottage along with cheering on the Packers, Badgers and Brewers. She and Jim loved to attend polka dances and listening to polkas on Sunday morning was a family tradition. Above all Mary Jane loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, James, Rib Mountain; her four sons and their families, Jody (Tammy) Frieders and children Craig Frieders, Bethany (Jared) Seubert; Jay Frieders and his daughter, Jessica Teske (Jake Pisca); Darrel (Mary Ann) Frieders and their son, Dustin (Rachel) Altfillisch; and Dale (Connie) Frieders and their daughters, Olivia and Alexis; great-grandchildren, Kali Seubert, Tyla Beilke-Seubert, Avery Pisca, Landen and Bayze Altfillisch; siblings, Claude (Joyce) Gantner, Caroline Witucki, Lucille Rausch and Francis Johnsen; sisters-in-law, Joyce Gantner and Jane Gantner.
