Mary F. Dorshak

Mary F. Dorshak, 93, Rothschild, died Saturday June 8, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services, surrounded by her family. She was born November 29, 1919, in Rothschild, daughter of the late John and Bernice (Baron) Szarkowitz. On November 24, 1937, she married John R. Dorshak at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death December 28, 2001. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery, baking and traveling. She was a longtime member of St. Mark Catholic Church and their Parish Council of Catholic Women. Prior to their retirement, Mary and John owned and operated "Johnnie's Rothschild Bar" for thirty years. Survivors include five children, Jerome (Alice) Dorshak, Stevens Point, Chester Dorshak, Rothschild, Patricia McGuire, Texas, Marcie (Jim) Light, Wausau, Pamela (Lee) Bretl, Illinois, seven grandchildren, Rick (Patchura) Dorshak, Stevens Point, Cherie Dorshak, New Mexico, Tracey Haroldson, Wausau, John C. Dorshak, Wausau, Melissa Dorshak, Wausau, Brandon Bretl, Illinois, Courtney Bretl, Illinois, two great grandchildren, Austin Dorshak and Nicole Stehberger and one sister, Hildegard Szarkowitz, Milwaukee. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Veronica Mirek, Rosalie Slusarski, Joseph, Thomas, Henry and Anthony Szarkowitz. The funeral mass will be celebrated 1:00 p.m. Weds. June 12, 2013, at St. Mark Catholic Church, Rothschild. The Very Rev. Allan Slowiak will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Weds. from 11:00 a.m.until the time of services at the church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Marywood Convalescent Center and Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the special care given to Mary during her time with them.
