Mary Berres

Mary Berres, 94, Weston formerly of Poniatowski, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Rennes Rehabilitation, Weston. She was born August 15, 1923 in the town of Rietbrock, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Novitzke) Murkowski. On July 2, 1940 she married Raymond T. Berres at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. He preceded her in death on April 26, 1979. Mary and her late husband Ray farmed in the town of Rietbrock for many years. She enjoyed doing yard work, cutting the lawn and being a homemaker. Mary also enjoyed playing cards, taking polka trips with family and caring for her son Ron's dog. Survivors include her son, Ronald Berres, Marathon, 8 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, three sisters, Irene King, Weston, Jane Gantner and Theresa Berens, both of Wausau as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her son James, her daughter-in-law, Sue Berres, two grandchildren, Janet and Daniel Berres and numerous brothers and sisters. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Rev. Thomas Huff will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar is in charge of arrangements.
