Mary Alice R. Bergs

Mary Alice R. Bergs 82, Edgar, died Sunday March 23, 2008 at her home. She was born March 24, 1925 in the town of Marathon, daughter of the late Rudolph and Mary (Moersch) Hall. On June 14, 1945, she married Herbert Bergs at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2005. Mary Alice graduated from Marathon High School in 1942. She farmed with her husband, Herbert, in the town of Rib Falls until 1970. In 1973, she began working for Marathon Cheese Corp. until her retirement in 1987. She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, the "Hi-Neighbor" homemakers group, a member of the Holy Family Parish Council of Catholic Women and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Sawyer-Drumm Post #393, Edgar. Among her many interests, she enjoyed gardening, canning, working on jigsaw puzzles, feeding all the cats around the farm and socializing with her neighbors and close friends. Spending time with her family and her grandchildren was the most important part of her life. Survivors include, two children, Dennis (Diane) Bergs, Edgar and Karen Rozewicz, Wausau; five grandchildren, Maria Pergolski, Appleton, Danielle Bergs, Wausau, Shawn Pergolski, Appleton, Ashley Murkowski, Mosinee and Joshua Kralcik, Edgar; two great grandchildren, Jordyn and Haley Kralcik; one brother, Donald (Elaine) Hall, Snowhomish, Wash.; three sisters, Erna Jansen, Marathon, Anita (David) Marzynski, Wausau and LouAnn (Elroy) Lang, Waukesha; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Herbert, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Kenneth Hall; and one sister, Doris Skrzypcak. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday March 27, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Weds. from 4 - 8 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services all at the church in Poniatowski. There will be a rosary service Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Rib Falls First Responders, 1834 11th Ave., Edgar, WI 54426.
