Mary Ann Schuld, 88, of Metamora, IL, formerly of Macomb, IL, Mosinee, WI, and Wausau, WI, passed away with her family by her side on Monday, July 13, 2026, at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home in Peoria, IL.
She was born on April 8, 1938, in Wausau to the late Jacob and Sarah (Walters) Reuter. She married Ernest R Schuld on May 23, 1964, at St Mary Catholic Church in Wausau. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2018. Survivors include one son and two daughters, Sara (Brad) Payne of Metamora, IL; Alan (Marianne) Schuld of Huntsville, AL; and Dana (Tim) McVicker of Metamora, IL; nine grandchildren, Ashley (Steven) James, Austin and Alex Payne, Erin and Riley Schuld, Ashley and Luke Daniel, and Kaelyn Ray and Connor McVicker; one sister and one brother, Audrey Reuter of Wausau, WI, and Leon (Irene) Reuter of Lancaster, CA; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Irene Reuter, Joyce Schuld, and Michael Stack; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Norman, Robert, Edwin, and Ralph Reuter; two sisters, Laverne Reuter and Delores Hamerla; several sisters- and brothers-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and many aunts and uncles.
She was very active in Girl Scouts, serving as a troop leader for 50 young girls, and was a church volunteer prior to marriage. She attended Viterbo College, a Franciscan institution in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She and her husband fostered high school children for several years before raising their own children. She was an owner and actively involved in the family manufacturing businesses in product development, accounting, and marketing roles. She also took pride in maintaining a pristine home and preparing tasty meals for her family. She was an avid Packer fan; and enjoyed sewing, camping, gardening, traveling, reading, knitting, playing cards with family and friends, and art in many forms including woodcarving and sketching.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Parish, Wausau. Fr. Woodrow Pace will preside. A noon lunch at the Church will follow the services, followed by a Burial with graveside prayers in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 3:00-7:00 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and also on Thursday, July 23 from 10:00 until time of services at the church.
