Martha E. Socha
86, formerly of 704 N. Third Avenue, Edgar, died Friday, June 3, 2005 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born July 9, 1918 in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late John and Anna Lepak. On October 26, 1946 she was united in marriage to Edward S. Socha at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cassel. He preceded her in death on August 10, 1989.
Martha was a homemaker. She and her husband farmed in the town of Reitbrock until their retirement in 1972. Among her many interests she enjoyed playing bingo, attending church services on a regular basis and spending time with her family as often as she could.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane (Hank) Bronowicz, Athens and Betty Socha, Stoughton, two granddaughters, Carey (Chad) Bernt and Mandy (Paul) Dahlke, one great grandson, Peyton Dahlke and one sister Alice Chojnowski, Edgar along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her husband, Martha was preceded in death by an infant daughter Susan, one sister, Dorothy Lang and three brothers, Frank, Martin and Isadore Lepak.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2005 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. The Rev. Donald Berg will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening at the Edgar funeral home.
