Martha Bender

Martha "Lou" Bender 79, Wausau, died Sunday, October 17, 2010 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Cady Home, Wausau. She was born August 12, 1931 in Belvidere, Ill., daughter of the late Gerald and Mildred (Renwick) Swail. Lou worked as a registered nurse for M. J. Carlisle M.D. in Belvidere for 12 years and then moved to the Wausau area in 1966. For 27 years, she worked for North Central Health Care, Wausau until her retirement. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed dancing, Friday night fish-fries, traveling with her special friend Jim and spending time with her family. Survivors include two sons, Stacy (Suzy) Bender, Fort Collins, Colo. and Stuart (Karen) Bender, town of Hamburg; two grandsons, Steven Bender, Cheyenne, Wyo. and Eric Bender, Wausau; one sister, Gloria (Donald) Buck, Belvidere, Ill.; her special friend, Jim Beckman, Wausau; three nephews; and one niece. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Delores Spencer. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Burial will be in the Belvidere Cemetery in Belvidere, Ill.
