Marlene Joyce Laffin (née Syring) beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on February 2, 2025 at the age of 87 in Kimberly, Wisconsin.

Until recently, Marlene had been a lifelong resident of Wausau, and was the loving mother of five children: Cindi Laffin (James Massey), Julie Laffin (Andrew Cook), Gregg Laffin (Jean), Shelley Draeger (Christopher), and Melissa Iverson (Donald Garrett).

Marlene enjoyed being an active member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and her community. She had a wealth of friends in Wausau and the surrounding area. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed walking daily for many years. She was known for her green thumb and loved growing things, especially vegetables and flowers. Marlene was well-loved for her generous nature and great sense of humor.

Marlene was, also, a busy grandmother and great-grandmother to: Tanya Warden, Tom Warden (Hyden Jamandron), Sara Laffin, Kyta Willets, Grey Ferrer (Darby), Sija Laffin (Alex Musgjerd), Talon Wolf Laffin, Matthew Laffin (Tricia), Michael Laffin (Jessica Przybylski), Jennifer Turner (T.J.), Alyssa Sturzl (Walter Mongin), Travis Sturzl (Sarah Keller), Noah Draeger, Sebastian Iverson, Hannah Okray, Adrian Okray (Charmaine Jamandron Villafranca), Grace Warden, Serah Laffin, Ellie Laffin, Asher Laffin, Lane Willets, Levi Willets, Zophyah Laffin, Connor Laffin, Aron Laffin, Kaine Laffin and Charlotte Laffin.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband Ronald Edward Laffin and her grandchildren Sara Laffin and Talon Wolf Laffin. She is survived by her brother Wayne Syring (Lucy).

Visitation and Memorial service for Marlene will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church at 600 Stevens Dr., Wausau, WI 54401, on February 14th, 2025, Visitation from 9:30 am until the service at 11:30 am. A small luncheon to follow. All are invited to join us for lunch, to celebrate mom's life.
