Mark J. Treptow
88, 150 Ethel Street, Wausau, died Friday May 30, 2003 at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services.
He was born November 23, 1914 in Wausau, son of the late Fredrick and Frances (Garvey) Treptow. On January 6, 1940 he married Florence Levandoski at St. Michael Catholic Church, Wausau. She preceded him in death August 7, 1994.
Prior to his retirement, Mark had been employed for 38 years at 3M Corp., Wausau. He also served in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Fort Snelling, Minn.
Through the years, Mark touched many lives with his involvement in numerous community organizations. The Wausau Little League granted him emeritus status after many years of active leadership in various roles, including; coach, service on their Board of Directors and as equipment manager. His longtime involvement with the Wausau Hospital Volunteers recognized his logging of over 2500 hours of service to their organization. He was a Red Cross volunteer for their monthly blood pressure clinics at the KC Club. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus George Schreier Council #1069, Wausau, was a former Deputy Sheriff for Marathon County, and was involved in the stunt nights at the former St. Mary School. In the past years, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his family, daughter, Mary Lavin, Wausau and her daughter, Megan; son, Dennis (Dianne) Treptow, Anoka, Minn, and their family, Alex Treptow, Jackie (Kevin) Williams and their daughters, Andrea & Travis, Jenny and Susan Solberg; daughter, Carol (Patrick) Mages, Memphis, Tenn., and their son, Matthew Mages; two brothers, Edward (Yvonne) Treptow, Wausau; John Treptow, Wausau, two brothers-in-law, William (Pat) Levandoski, Indianapolis, Ind., and Robert Anderson, Wausau; a sister-in-law, Willie (Gene) Witter, Wausau.
Besides his parents and wife, Florence, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael, a brother, Robert and a grandson, Andrew.
The funeral mass will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Tuesday June 3, 2003 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in his name.
