Marjorie Ann Thorn

Marjorie Thorn, 86 Wausau, passed away on Thursday December 11th, 2025, at Hospice House in Wausau surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 7, 1939, in Wausau, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary (Welling) Rhyner. On October 25th, 1958, she married Robert Thorn at St. Michael’s Church, Wausau. They just celebrated their 67 years of marriage.

Marge worked at Wausau Hospital in the lab, for over 30 years, until her retirement in 1998. Among her favorite pastimes, she enjoyed spending time with family members, Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, and trips to Nevada and Florida and don’t forget shopping. She loved to decorate her home for all seasons and Holiday’s. She also enjoyed all the family pets and sitting on the porch of the hunting shack. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her and knew her.

Survivors include, her husband, Robert; two Children; Daughter Lynn (Mike) Opichka, Merrill and Son, Rodney (Joni) Thorn, Wausau; four Grandchildren, Jennifer (Eric) Kreuger, Dustin (fiancé Savannah) Thorn, David (Samantha) Jaeger, Stefany (Zach) Markvart, seven Great-Grandchildren; Gabrielle, Joseph, Abby, Aaron, Taylen, Hartlen and one due in February. Many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Gordon, Leroy, Garland, Eugene, Edward and Roger (Otto) Rhyner; and three sisters, Marion Atkins, Betty Jane Prosser and Elaine Hoffman.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18th, 2025, at the Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. The Rev. Jennifer Hoffman will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the Sixth Street funeral home.
