Marion J. Braun 88, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 under the care of Interim Hospice Care.
Marion was born on November 14, 1935, in Marshfield, the daughter of Albert and Christine (Enders) Peissig. On June 18, 1958, she married John E. Braun at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville, Wisconsin. He preceded her in death on December 5, 2014.
After graduating from Dorchester High School, Marion was employed in the office at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield for 5 years. During this time, she enjoyed traveling throughout the states.
Marion was a homemaker and then was employed at the Bank of Athens for 32 years. During their married life, Marion and John enjoyed going to Manson Lake, camping at their property at Great Bass Lake and during their retirement years, spending time at their Lake George cottage near Rhinelander. They also enjoyed many great fishing trips to Canada. Marion also traveled with family to Nashville, the Bahamas, Disney World and San Francisco. Marion enjoyed playing cards, bowling, being a Brownie Leader, treasurer of the Boy Scouts and an activity volunteer at St. Anthony’s Parish.
After residing in Athens for 52 years, Marion and John moved to Marathon and enjoyed attending sporting events, the Marathon swim center, occasional trips to the casino and activities with St. Mary’s Parish. Her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very important to Marion and a big part of her life.
She is survived by her children, Mike Braun, Pat (Joanne) Braun, Mary (Les) McNeill, and Tony (Sandy) Braun; grandchildren, Kristina (Oscar), Sara (Jorge), John (Catherine), Maria, Andrew (Emily), David, Matt (Sami), Joshua (Samantha); great grandchildren, Jacob, Caleb, Anthony, Lyle, Emma, Isabel, Wyatt; and siblings Helen Ludwig and Alan Peissig.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents Albert and Christine Peissig, brother, Don, father and mother-in-law, Wilfred and Edna Braun; and sisters and brothers in-law; Jean Hartman, Joan Smith, Joyce Riehle, Bill Braun and Tom Braun.
Marion’s family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Interim Hospice, the Athenian Living Center in Athens and Wausau Manor for the care and devotion they shared with Marion during her time with them. God bless you all.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Msgr. Jospeh Diermeier and Rev. George Grahm will concelebrate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in memory of Marion.
