Marilyn M. Spletter, 78, Wausau died Saturday, April 11, 2015 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at the Hospice House, Wausau.
She was born April 5, 1937 in Wausau, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Mattson) Trainor. On May 21, 1960 she married Darwin "Blackie" Spletter at St. Anne Catholic Church, Wausau. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1999.
For many years Marilyn was a greeting card merchandiser for many local grocery stores throughout Wausau. As a founding member of St. Anne Catholic Church she was very active in the Fatima Council, the Sympathy Circle, and the Lenten fish fry where she volunteered for 58 years. Some of her favorite pastimes included gardening and tending to her flower beds. Marilyn was so very proud to be in the first graduating class of Newman High School in 1955, and also for receiving the Cornerstone award for her hard work and dedication to her alma mater.
Survivors include her two sons, Tom (Amy McLoughlin) Spletter, Ohio and Mike Spletter, Texas, four grandchildren, Christopher James, Jessica, Shannon and Eric Spletter and one sister, Mary Kay (Roy) Mahnke, River Falls.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at The Church of St. Anne, Wausau. The Rev. Alan Burkhardt will preside. Entombment will be in the Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Marilyn's name. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau is in charge of arrangements.
