Marie Bannon Wolf

Marie Bannon Wolf 87, Applegate Terrace, Wausau, died Thursday, June 13, 2002 under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. She was born September 12, 1914 in Honey Creek, WI, daughter of the late John and Sophina Huber. She married James Bannon in 1946 in Sauk City. He preceded her in death in 1987. In 1989, she married Walter Wolf at St. James Catholic Church, Wausau. He survives. Marie received her bachelors and masters degrees at the University of Wisconsin Stout. She began her teaching career in Superior and then was employed at the Wausau Vocational School, which is now known as North Central Technical College for 31 years retiring in 1979. She was the college's first Home Economics Coordinator and was responsible for setting up consumer and home economics classes throughout the greater Wausau area. Marie was also responsible for developing the Consumer Education Mobile Classroom, which for 13 years provided consumers and family education classes primarily for women in rural areas of north central Wisconsin. Throughout her career, Marie was a mentor and an inspiration to many women, both as a teacher and as a colleague. She organized the Marathon County Homemaker's Club and was their advisor for many years. Marie was a member of the Marathon County Home Economists Club, the Catholic Woman's Club and the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Survivors besides her husband Walter Wolf, Wausau, include two sisters, Gertrude Franke, Wausau and Catherine Gasper, Sun City, Arizona; one brother, Lawrence (Lola) Huber, North Freedom; two nephews; three nieces and many friends. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 15, 2002 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. Rev. Stephen Gross will preside. Entombment will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends may call on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 6th St., Wausau, is in charge of arrangements.
