MARIE C. KING 83, 3536 Hwy H, Edgar, Wis, entered into eternal life on August 20, 2001 in Marshfield. Marie was born on October 20, 1917 to Anton and Agnes (Seidl) Neuman in Hewitt, Wis. She attended St. Joseph Catholic School in Hewitt. Marie worked in Chicago and Marshfield following her schooling. She married Aloysius King on May 7, 1946 at St. Michael Catholic Church, Hewitt. Marie and Al worked together to develop the dairy operation now known as the Kingdom Haven Farm, just south of Edgar. Besides the dairy operation, Marie sold eggs from her home to many local residents. Marie and Al "retired" in 1984, but kept a strong interest in the family farm. This Century Farm is now owned and operated by Mike and Linda King, and Kevin and June King and their families. Al and Marie celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on May 27, 2001 with all of their children and grandchildren in attendance. She belonged to St. John's PCCW / Christian Mother's Society and the Small Town Friends Homemaker's Club. Marie loved to sew and had hand quilted quilts for each of her 10 children and made quilts for each of her 18 grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting and made numerous doilies for her children, grandchildren and friends as well as donations for church bazaars. Marie and Al also opened their homes and hearts to exchange students from various states and countries. She was very active in the 4-H program, serving as a general leader of the Cassel Rockets 4-H Club for 27 years. Marie enjoyed traveling, and made lasting friendships with the people she traveled with. She enjoyed communicating with friends from several countries. Marie loved beautiful roses and flower gardens, which she and Al grew at their home. Marie and Al enjoyed feeding and watching the large variety of birds gracing their trees and gardens at their home. Her home contained at global collection of more than 200 salt & pepper shaker sets that were given to her by friends and family. She and Al are well known for the beautiful Christmas decorations that adorned their home each year. Her family will always remember her Sunday breakfast tradition of homemade sweet rolls, and listening to polkas. She always believed in and encouraged education, and instilled this philosophy in her children and grandchildren. Marie's strong Catholic faith and love of family, sustained her and gave her strength throughout her life. Her husband, Al King, Edgar, survives Marie. She is also survived by her 10 children and 18 grandchildren: Donald (Karen) King, Edgar, and their children, Dan and Brian, Rita King, Marshfield, Dr. Jerry (Jane) King, Omaha, Neb, and their children, Jodi, JeriLynn, and Jonathan, Kathy (Bob) Weeks, Stetsonville, and their children, Rachel and Esther, Dr. Ron (Monica) King, St. Louis, Missouri, and their children, Bracken and Tyler, Jeanne (Rick Anderson) King, Marshfield, Mike (Linda) King, Edgar, and their children, Patrick, Carol and Scott, Alice King, Plover, Kevin (June) King, Edgar, and their children, Nathan, Michelle, Melissa, Angela and Alycia, Deb (Bob) Wilson, Marshfield, and their daughter, Jamie, 1 great-grandson, Sammy, 1 sister, Anna (Rueben) Ashbeck, Chicago, and 1 sister-in-law, Doris Neuman, Marshfield. Her parents, Tony and Agnes Neuman, and her brother, Victor Neuman, preceded her in death. Marie was the foundation of the family. Her loving husband, children and grandchildren will carry on her dreams, her virtues, and her love of life. Marie lived a full and happy life, and is resting free of pain with God. All who knew and loved her will miss her. The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, August 23, 2001 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Poniatowski. Rev. Bernard Raschke will preside. Deacon Herman Schultz will be the homilist, with Judy Trawicki as vocalist. Burial will be in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Edgar. Her grandchildren will be pallbearers. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar and on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary service 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Edgar funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds have been established for the Edgar Fire and Rescue Department, and also the Dialysis Unit at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.
