Marie R. Kania

Marie Rose (Glatzak) Kania “Recca,” 76, of Wausau, passed away at home peacefully, Saturday night, August 2, 2025, surrounded by family.

Marie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She worked as a crossing guard for about seven years before becoming manager at McDonald’s, where she worked for 16 years. Marie loved spending time with her grandchildren, who always made her smile, loved camping with her family, and working on her diamond art.

Survivors include her husband, Ron Kania; children, Cary Kania, Jeff (Julie) Kania, Lori (Aaron) Kramer, Jeremy (Kristen) Kania, Roger Kania, and Michael Kania; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and siblings, Beverly (Jerry) Dickenson, Alice (Duwayne) Bulk, Ken (Mary) Whippler, Gene Whippler, and Elizabeth Glatzak.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Evelyn Glatzak; and siblings, twin sister, Mary Glatzak (at birth), Jimmy (Donna) Glatzak, Richard (Audry) Whippler, Evelyn (Bob) Nowak, JoAnn (Ralph) Erdman, and Travis Russ.

The funeral liturgy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, with Rev. Woodrow Pace presiding.
