Marie E. Furger, 97, Marathon died Monday, December 1, 2014 at St. Clare's Hospital, Weston.
She was born July 13, 1917 in the town of Emmet, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Karlen) Imhoff. On October 6, 1937 she married Henry Furger at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Halder. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1999.
Marie farmed with her husband Henry in the town of Emmet prior to moving to Marathon in 1973. She enjoyed playing cards and traveling and was a member of the P.C.C.W. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon.
Survivors include her children, Virjean (Robert) Knauf, Marathon, Mary (Mark) Hermes, Rib Mountain, LaVern (Mary Jane) Furger, Ralph (Pat) Furger, Norm (Sally) Furger and Randy (Cindy) Furger, all of Marathon, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one sister-in-law, Rita Imhoff, Marshfield as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her siblings, Agnes and Sara Kraimer, Helen Osterbrink, Louis, Joseph, Robert, Edward and Alex Imhoff.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 6, 2014 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church.
