Marie Joyce Flannery, 85, 500 Grand Avenue, Wausau, died Wednesday, May 29, 2002, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital. Marie was born February 22, 1917 in Muscatine, Iowa, daughter of the late Harold and Nettie (Akey) Will. She later married Lawrence W. Flannery on October 15, 1949, at the former St. Mary Catholic Church in Wausau. He preceded her in death June 2, 1992. Marie worked at First American State Bank, Employers Mutual and she also sold Avon for 23 years. She enjoyed working with children and helping the elderly. She also loved bowling. She is survived by her only son, Patrick M. Flannery, who lives with his fiancAC., Laurie Daniels in Marina del Rey, California. Patrick works as a feature film editor and songwriter. Marie also has one Goddaughter, Ann Roesch, as well as many relatives and friends living throughout Wisconsin. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, June 3, 2002 at The Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ, Wausau. The Rev. Fred Kulovits will preside. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Mosinee. Friends may call from 2-5 p.m., Sunday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, and again on Monday from 10 a.m., until the time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Wausau Area Catholic Schools, c/o; Paula Clark, 602 N. 2nd Street, Wausau, Wisconsin, 54403. There will be a parish vigil service at 4 p.m., Sunday, at the Sixth Street funeral home.
